PelotonCB — Privacy Policy

PelotonCB (a sibling app of Car Radio, sharing its backend) is built to know as little about you as possible.

No accounts, no identity

There is no sign-up. Each ride gets a random phonetic handle (like "Neon Falcon") that is discarded afterward. We collect no name, email, phone number, contacts, or advertising identifiers.

What the app processes

Location (GPS position, heading, speed): used on your device to place you with nearby riders (open-road mode). Your live location is never stored on our servers; a position snapshot is attached only to voice messages you choose to send.
Microphone: during a ride the microphone stays open and what you say is sent to your pack in short voice snippets (≤10 s), until you pause it (on-screen button or earbud tap). Silence is never sent. Pausing stops all transmission.

Road Guide (AI) — optional, on by default, switch off any time

When Road Guide is on, each voice message you send is also processed by Google's Gemini API to decide whether it is a question or remark about the road, the scenery, or places nearby. Only if it is does the guide answer — privately, to you. Everything else (conversation with other riders, personal topics) is ignored and gets no reply. What is sent to Google: your voice message, its transcript, and your approximate position, heading and speed at that moment. Never your name or any account (there are none). Transcripts and answers are kept 24 hours to check the guide behaves, then deleted. Other people's messages are never sent to the Road Guide. Turn it off with the "Road Guide (AI)" switch.

Automatic deletion

All data is deleted automatically, always within 90 days — most within 24 hours:

Safety and moderation

You can mute or report any speaker; senders are never told. Repeatedly muted or reported riders are automatically silenced. Reported messages are retained up to 30 days solely for moderation review.

Sharing

We do not sell or share data with third parties for advertising. Data is processed on Supabase (our hosting provider) solely to operate the service. Google (Gemini API) processes Road Guide messages as described above and voices the local alerts. Optional local alerts use public data sources (US National Weather Service, Wikipedia).
